Hi
My name is Elsa Henriksdotter and I´m a 24 year old journalist and artist from Gothenburg, Sweden. I recently took my final exam in journalism at JMG and before that I studied gender studies at the university of Gothenburg. Currently I work as a news reporter in a small town called Varberg, 50 minutes outside Gothenburg by train.
When I´m not writing articles I´m mostly near a canvas with a color palette in my right hand and a pencil in the other. With my background in gender studies my art mainly focus on the female body and how women have continuously been portrayed naked in art. Traditionally, the subjects eyes are turned away so the viewer can enjoy and be able to easily objectify the woman. Instead, I paint my naked women with big eyes in order to force the viewer into a dialogue with the artwork. This results in the woman no longer being seen as merely an object, but an active subject on the canvas. Currently you can see my exhibition ”Show us your tits” at the coffeeshop Viktors Kaffe at Geiljergatan 7 in Gothenburg.
On my spear time i play tennis, hang out with friends, read a lot of thriller books, and as I´m a little bit of a coffee nerd ( five years as a barista) I drink way too much coffee. Also, I LOVE dogs.
